Wroclaw, a city in the heart of Europe with 600,000 inhabitants, is one of the largest academic centers in Poland with over 60,000 students studying at various universities and academic institutions. It has a rich culture and history with essence of modern, open and dynamic features. Awarded as the “European Best Destination for 2018”, Wroclaw is called the “Polish Venice”. 120 bridges over the river Oder, link it’s 12 wonderful islands including the picturesque Cathedral island. Wroclaw is renowned for its Market Square, lined with elegant townhouses and featuring a modern fountain. Also on the square is the Gothic Old Town Hall, with its large astronomical clock. Nearby is the Panorama of Racławice, a painting depicting the 1794 battle for independence. The Centennial Hall auditorium, with its giant dome and tall spire, lies across the river. The city is also home to over 350 dwarfs, which are scattered around the city and new ones are added every year!

Wroclaw University of Science and Technology (WUST) is the heir to the material German output Königliche Technische Hochschule Breslau and the intellectual and scientific heritage of the Lviv Polytechnic. The university has been in operation since 1945. Its creators and organizers were Lviv and Warsaw scholars. From the beginning of its activity it was an important center of technical education. Today it is one of the largest and best technical universities in the country - at 16 faculties (Architecture, Land and Water Construction, Chemical, Electronics, Electrical, Geoengineering, Mining and Geology, Environmental Engineering, Computer Science and Management, Mechanics and Energy, Mechanical, Basic Problems of Technology, Electronics of Microsystems and Photonics, Mathematics, Technical-Informatics, Technical-Engineering, Technical and Natural Sciences), under the direction of 2 thousand academic teachers, educates over 28 thousand students. The rank of the University is evidenced by the results that the WUST achieves in annual rankings, such as the Ranking of Universities Perspektywy, in which it invariably occupies leading positions.
